Diane Matar is the Director of Strategic Development at SilverLining, where she leads efforts to cultivate strategic, trust-based partnerships with aligned foundations, individual donors, and collaborators.

Diane brings 15+ years of experience at the intersection of philanthropy, environmental nonprofit organizations, and academic research. As an Independent Advisor, she has supported Schmidt Futures’ Science Innovation Fellows, Convergent Research’s Focused Research Organizations (FRO), and other nonprofit science innovation initiatives. Previously, she served as a Fellow at the Science Philanthropy Alliance (SPA), where she provided strategic grantmaking advice to a portfolio of donors on Earth science, and served on TED Audacious Technical Review Committee.

Diane was a Postdoctoral Scholar and Guest Lecturer at Stanford University’s Woods Institute for the Environment. She holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences and Policy from Central European University (Austria), an MSc in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management from the University of Manchester (UK), and a BSc in Environmental Health from the American University of Beirut. She is fluent in French and Arabic and is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
